Bad Times

I'm typing this on my laptop as my pc is totally broken. Some very not nice person hacked into my computer, broke into my email, sent a bunch of spam mails, deleted all my saved work, got me in trouble with aol, and destroyed the whole system which now has to be reinstalled from scratch. So no new posts today sadly. Hopefully the person coming to fix it can save my files. I hope....

Washington Post names tainted formula companies

The Washington Post has named the formula companies that were to tested and found to be tainted with Melamine - Good Start Supreme with Iron and Enfamil with Lipil. Which is interesting because Enfamil released a statement that very day saying all the testing done proved their formula to be safe. The FDA thinks the melamine and cyanuric acid got into the U.S. formula as a byproduct of manufacturing. So far, no recalls.

So who was it?

By now you have heard that traces of the industrial chemical melamine have been detected in samples of top-selling U.S. infant formula. The FDA said the levels found were very low and "safe". This, after the FDA originally said there was no safe level for these contaminants in infant formula. And of course, no recalls were issued. Not only that, but we apparently can't even get the names of the formula companies where the trace levels were found. That's just great. Between the BPA in the bottles, the lead in the vinyl bibs, and now the melamine in the formula, feeding your baby just got a lot more scary. And at least with the bottles and the bibs, we knew who to avoid.

Sorry for the lack of posting, but....

Meet the newest edition to my family, Mr. Fluffy Pants. I found him a few nights ago in someone's trash. Yes, that's right. I was driving to dinner when I spotted this little guy near the road in a wire cage, being thrown out. He was covered in snow and the cage was full of poo. I knocked on the door and the family told me he belonged to their neighbor who had thrown him out three days ago with no food or water. And it's below 30 here and snowing. So being the animal lover that I am, I took him in my car to the Humane Society. Only they don't take anything but dogs and cats. They tried to find someone for me that would, but apparently there are only wild bunnies rescues in this state. So now he's mine. I just hope he gets along with Angel, the Yorkie. So far, so good.

Fabulous modern baby store Giggle is opening a bunch of new stores. In the next few months, there will be Giggles in Chicago, Chevy Chase, MD and Corte Madera, CA. A Pasadena, CA store just opened recently, the first ever to be close to the LA area.

Rebecca Romijn sent Harmon an Angel Dear Dalmatian Puppy Blanket and two My Blankee blankets from the L.A. baby store Bel Bambini, where Harmon had registered for her shower. Valletta gave Harmon Bebe Au Lait Hooter Hiders in Hot Dots from Bel Bambini.
