Latest celebrity Origami sighting

Rachel Zoe is the latest celebrity mom to own a 4Moms Origami stroller. She and her son Skyler were spotted on Robertson Blvd in West Hollywood yesterday, pushing the fashionable pram around. Other celebs with an Origami include Kourtney Kardashian and Mel B.

Fisher Price debuts case for iPad

After the success of their Laugh & Learn Apptivity Case for the iPhone, Fisher Price has released a similar case for iPads. This one is also able to protect from dribbles, drool, teething, dropping, unwanted button pressing and sticky little fingers. And of course, it also comes with the free downloads for Fisher Price's baby apps.

Limited Edition Stokke Xplory

Bel Bambini has a special Limited Edition Stokke Xplory in a very pretty Blue Melange color. The stroller comes with a Changing Bag and the carrycot is sold separately.

Pong iPad and iPhone cases

Not baby related really, BUT I still had to post about this because it's that cool. I recently got a Pong iPad case and I just love it. If you didn't know, Pong is the only environmental case maker that is also dedicated to the health of both you and your family by protecting you from unnecessary exposure to cell phone radiation. It was developed by a team of scientists that wanted to create a product that redirects cell phone EMR (electromagnetic radiation) away from the user's head and towards the cell tower. You can read more about it on their website. A great idea if your children like to play with your iPhone or iPad.

Maclaren Situation Update

Maclaren sent me a statement last night on the post we did yesterday. It's very similar to the one they sent to Baby Gizmo and other sites. I'll post it here if you haven't read it yet. Good News: They are staying in the USA. "Please be assured that Maclaren Group is a fully operational organization. To clear the confusion, the specific details reported in Daddy Types do not relate to Maclaren Group. Here are the facts for your reference: · American Baby Products, formerly known as Maclaren USA, was a third party distributor for Maclaren branded products in the US market. · American Baby Products lost the rights to distribute Maclaren products, and the right to use the Maclaren name, in the Fall of 2010. · American Baby Products filed for Chapter 7 in December, 2011. · Maclaren, as a brand, changed its distribution strategy over the past years moving from third party distributors to distribution within the Maclaren group, allowing Maclaren to better ensure management of its products and its brand. · Maclaren is one global company which controls its distribution, following a common trend within the retail industry. · Today the Maclaren brand is unified worldwide. All 2012 products feature a single Global Safety Standard, which means that Maclaren buggys around the world will meet and exceed even the highest safety standards mandated anywhere in the world. · Within its industry Maclaren, by far, has the most comprehensive and highest level of safety standards around the world. I hope this reassures you that all is well on our end"

So what's going on with Maclaren....

I usually stay away from posts like this, but it's quite a mystery and I am intrigued. For those of you who are unaware, Maclaren USA filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Connecticut on December 29, 2011. Greg at Daddytypes has all the details in this post, and a follow up here. Chapter 7 is not an attempt to reorganize. It means the company is done and closing, which is exactly what Maclaren USA has done. But this is where it gets weird. A new company called Maclaren N.A. has now taken over handling Maclaren's business here, and they are owned by Maclaren Europe, LTD. Maclaren N.A. has been posting job offering on monster.com recently, the last one only a day ago. About 9 jobs were posted in the past three weeks. So obviously Maclaren is still around in the USA and still operating out of Norfolk, CT. So far no statement from Maclaren has been issued, but I'll keep looking for it.

Jessica Simpson shops at Bel Bambini

Jessica Simpson was spotted leaving West Hollywood baby store, Bel Bambini, this past week. The singer stopped in to register for gifts for her shower, which were allegedly all pink and girly. The above picture was posted on Bel Bambini's twitter.

Skip Hop's new stroller liners

PishPoshBaby is allowing pre-orders for Skip Hop's new stroller liners, due to ship in April. The liner is made of breathable memory foam with water repellant fabric and the back of the liner has a special layer of non-slip backing to help it stay in one place. Colors include red, blue, green, and platinum.

FAO Schwarz Presents A Gallery of Historic Toys

If you live in NYC (or are planning to visit soon), this is something you'll want to check out with the kids. In celebration of their the 150th anniversary, FAO Schwarz is showcasing "A Gallery of Historic Toys" now through April 11. More than 25 vintage versions of toys ranging from a 1905 Richard Steiff Teddy Bear and first edition Hot Wheels Cars to Hello Kitty’s first U.S. products and a 1982 hand-sewn Cabbage Patch Kid will be on display for the public. Other cools displays include the original Nintendo, the first Mr. Potato Head and even the original Barbie. Can't make it to the store? You can still see the gallery online at FAO.com.

Diane von Furstenberg's collection for Gap Kids

The Gap's website has the first look at the new Diane von Furstenberg's collection for Gap Kids, which is set to hit stores on March 15. The collection is for both little girls and baby girls, and there is a video Gap.com which gives you a nice preview of what is to come.

So when is the Foonf coming out?

Up until this point, all we've heard about the Clek Foonf release date has been "Summer 2012". Well now Clek's flagship stores are allowing pre-orders, with an expected ship time of late June. Other stores that aren't flagships will most likely not be getting the seat until later in the Summer, with Amazon.com quoting August 15 as their expected ship date. If you want to know where your closest Clek Flagship is, just check their website's store locator and look for the special Clek sign.

Selma adds a Mutsy

Selma Blair has been spotted with a laundry list of strollers since the birth of her son Arthur last year. This week the actress was seen with yet another new one, as she and Jason Bleick strolled in West Hollywood. The stroller is a Mutsy 4Rider Light in Team Lime, with a Skip Hop Jonathon Adler Duo Diaper Bag in Flame on the back.

Mint Julep, Pure T & Bundle join for pop-up

Attention New York fans! SoHo baby and children's boutique Bundle is teaming up with Mint Julep (a woman's boutique) and Pure T (a maternity line) to do a pop-up shop in Brooklyn on Feb. 25th and 26th. This is for one weekend only from 10-6 each day. The pop-up will be held at 212 Smith Street, Between Baltic and Butler, in Cobble Hill. 50-75% off retail, all seasons.

Ever wondered who is behind the Mamas and Papas

By now everyone has heard of British baby gear company, Mamas and Papas. And if you haven't, you soon will. That's because founders Luisa and David Scacchetti are taking Mamas & Papas products to a new country every month this year. The Telegraph wrote an article this past week about the company, it's history and how they are expanding. Toy Fair 2012

I was not able to attend the Toy Fair this year since it fell on my birthday, but our friends over at Growing Your Baby went and saw some great stuff. One of my favorites is the Step 2 Corvette room above, in which the bed actually converts from a toddler to a twin. Check out the GYB website for all the latest toy news this week.

Stokke's new baby carrier hits the US

Stokke's 3 in 1 Baby Carrier has come to the US. The American site updated this week with pictures of the new carrier, showing how it can be used in 3 different configurations from birth up to age 3. Unlike most carriers which only have an inwards newborn feature and an outward infant feature, this carrier provides you with a third option: a back carrying position for an older child. As of right now, The Right Start is the exclusive store for the carrier. They have it both in stores and at their online store.

Bruce Willis at Bel Bambini

Bruce Willis and his wife, model Emma Heming, were spotted leaving West Hollywood baby store, Bel Bambini, last week. The duo was spotted shopping for nursery furniture and bedding on the second floor of the exclusive boutique.

Kourtney Kardashian has an Origami too!

Perezitos reported a story yesterday on Kourtney Kardashian taking her son Mason to Disneyland this past week, where he got to show off his new stroller. Kourtney has bought the 4Moms Origami stroller in black, making her the second celeb to be seen with one.

Maclaren Quest buggy is now suitable for newborns

Maclaren has given UK consumer site, Which?, a sneak peek of the new 2012 version of the Quest buggy. The newest feature is a lie-flat backrest, allowing it to be used from birth instead of from three months as before. The new backrest recline mechanism is said to be operated with one hand only this time around. You can read more on Which?'s website.

Appaman has posted a preview of their Spring & Summer collection on Youtube. There is still no word on when their website will be updated with these clothes, but some online stores like Arte Bebe have started carrying them.

Mel B has some cool baby gear

Mel B has provided us with not one, but two celebrity firsts. She is the first famous parent to be seen with a 4Moms Origami stroller AND the first to be spotted with a Stokke Bounce N Sleep. The former Spice Girl was vacationing with her family in Sydney, Australia this past week when these photos were snapped.

Curtis Stone and Lindsay Price's nursery

Top Chef's Curtis Stone and actress Lindsay Price debut their new son Hudson in this week's edition of US Magazine. Lindsay (who didn't want to know the sex of her baby) selected the Serena & Lily nursery white nursery basics bedding for her nursery.
